Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA), established by the Government of Chhattisgarh for promotion of Biofuel in Chhattisgarh, under Department of Energy, Government of Chhattisgarh, is having state-of-art biofuel development facility and has been duly recognized by the Department of Scientific & Industrial Research, Government of India as SIRO (Scientific and Industrial Research Organization).
CBDA and CSIR-Indian Institute of Petroleum (CSIR-IIP), Dehradun has entered into an MoU to make biojet (Jet A-1) aviation fuel for demonstration flights in India. CBDA is also working jointly with Indian Institute of Technology, Bhilai (IIT-B), on Academic and Research Cooperation in Biofuels & Bioenergy.  
The major activities carried out presently include:
1. Facilitate utilization of surplus foodgrain (paddy/rice, maize) for production of bio-ethanol in Chhattisgarh.
2. Facilitate production of bio-ethanol from sugarcan molasses/ juice at existing State run sugar mill in the State.
3. Biomass feedstock utilization for production of CBG/ bio-CNG.
5. New cost-effective & eco-friendly technology for production of biodiesel.
6. Research & Development activities on verious kinds of biofuel.

About CBDA

A statutory body Chhattisgarh Biofuel Development Authority (CBDA) set up in 2005 with an objective of ensuring sustainable source of supply of feedstock for biofuel production. CBDA started promotion on non-edible energy crops plantation, particularly Jatropha, in underutilized lands, throughout the State. During the years 2005 to 2009, around 2774 lakhs of Jatropha curcas were planted by Agriculture, Forest, Horticulture and other departments in CG.
